The victim told police she was approached by a female who attempted to grab her purse. The suspect assaulted the victim and stole the purse.

Detectives investigating the case discovered the suspect had used a credit card from the robbery soon afterwards at the Exxon at 1701 East Broad Street in Shockoe Bottom.
Cutshall said the woman tried to disguise herself by taking off her t-shirt and wrapping it around her head.
The suspect is described as a black female, approximately 5-foot 7-inches tall and weighing 210 pounds, who wore a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black hat. She fled the scene on foot.
The crime happened outside of Angi Dunleavy's home. She and others in the neighborhood are unnerved and hope police catch the suspect quickly.
“People are not the nicest and they’re not the smartest,” Dunleavy said. “I know that happens and it happened here, so it’s not that surprising.”
