Weekend Events: Arts & Culture Xpo, Richmond Shakespeare Festival

RICHMOND: Arts & Culture Xpo, an explosion of the arts, history, science, performances education, hands-on-activities.  A fun event to highlight the mission of more than 60 local non-profit organizations and help to raise awareness of the talent in the Richmond. It's also a great opportunity to purchase discounted memberships and tickets to events and programs at each non-profit. Arts & Culture Xpo is  Saturday, June 27, 10am- 4pm at the Science Museum of Virginia. Free admission.

Festival of Arts at Dogwood Dell, featuring Plunky & Oneness Sunday, June 29, 8pm, My Uncle's Old Army Buddies, July 2nd, 8pm; Fourth of July, events start at 6pm, fireworks at 8:45pm; Latin Jazz Festival, July 11, 4pm; Gospel Fest, July 12, 5pm.  Byrd Park, 6000 South Blvd. Richmond, Dogwood Dell is a 2,400 seat amphitheatre owned and operated by the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities. Since 1956, it has been home to the Festival of Arts; a summer long celebration of the arts featuring art exhibits, concerts, dance and theater. In addition to these events, the Festival of Arts also incorporates a children's series with performances at the Ha' Penny stage. American Turkish Friendship Association series of Ramadan Dinner Programs to share the traditional break-fast meal with the community. Native American Art: The Robert and Nancy Nooter Collection on display at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 200 North Boulevard. This multifaceted exhibition, from The Robert and Nancy Nooter Collection, showcases objects from more than 50 different Native American cultures. The objects are on loan to the VMFA from Robert and Nancy Nooter, artworks include a carved Tlingit raven rattle, an adorned River Crow war shirt, ceramic vessels from the Acoma and Hopi Pueblos, baskets by Pomo and Apache artists, and exquisite Navajo textiles.
