HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- The Goochland man wanted for first-degree murder in the weekend death of 44-year-old Leaudrey Salmon, of Hanover County, was arrested Monday morning in Richmond. Lamare S. Jennings, 38, was arrested without incident at the Red Roof Inn on Commerce Road in Richmond, the Hanover Sheriff's Office announced.
"Investigators worked throughout the weekend to locate and apprehend Jennings and with the help of our law enforcement partners in the region, including the US Marshall Fugitive Taskforce and the Virginia State Police," Hanover Sheriff's Office spokesman Major Mike Trice said. "While much effort was used to locate Jennings, an equal amount of effort has been and will continue to be used to collect all relevant information and evidence to support the criminal prosecution."
Deputies discovered Salom's body Friday night after a 911 hang-up brought them to a Pinhook Road home in the Rockville-area of Hanover. Salmon had suffered “apparent trauma,” investigators said. Her family members were too upset to speak publicly, but did confirm Jennings and Salmon were dating. Salmon, they said, was a mother of two children.
Jennings was taken to Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover County where he was processed on a first-degree murder arrest warrant.
