CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Tucked away off Route 10 in Enon, stand a family-owned gas station and country store. You might call it a hole-in-the-wall by location, but now it really does have a hole in the wall.

"You never know some people pose as customers - really aren't your customers," Lynn Adenauer said. "I was like whoah, who did all this damage in that amount of time?"

Police don't know how long it actually took the crooks to get through the store's cinder block, wood and wires. But it was clear by surveillance video, that they got in and out in three minutes.

"It's really aggravating, because all of the hard work we do to keep the business going," said Adenauer. "They steal and tear up the building in the process."

While rummaging for the day’s revenue, in the safe deposit boxes that had about $1,600 inside, the three criminals realized they were caught on camera and tried to pull the plug.

"They came in cutting wires, but didn't cut the right ones," Adenauer said.

The owners of the store said they hoped someone out there would notice what the crooks wore or the backpack they carried and turn them in for a Crimesolver’s cash reward.

"We watched them walk outdoors, but no car left,” said Adenauer. “So they must've had a car across the street."

The owners are hoping the next cinder blocks these thieves see will be at the Chesterfield County Jail.
