State police ID wrong-way driver killed in I-64 crash

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. -- A Richmond man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in New Kent County early Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Interstate 64 eastbound near 209 mile marker at 2:45 a.m.

According to Virginia State Police Sgt.  Steve Vick, 40-year-old Michael McCall of Richmond was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and hit a tractor-trailer head on.

McCall was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, Vick said in an email. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
