On Thursday, May 14th Ellen welcomes Hollywood legend Jane Fonda on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” The star of the Netflix series “Grace and Frankie” calls her first on-screen kiss in 15 years “fun!” Jane also discusses the importance of shows like her Netflix series that highlight the role of older women and the challenges they face like vaginal dryness.

Jane reveals that she recently attended her 60th high school reunion and only 4 other people were there. Plus, in a game of Never Have I Ever Jane admits that she joined the mile high club when she was 50 years old on her 4th date with Ted Turner!

On her first on screen kiss in 15 years…

Ellen: There’s a little romance kissing scene how’s that for you?

Jane: How was that? Yeah. Ya know something I hadn’t had an on screen kiss in 15 years.

Ellen: Really?

Jane: No! I left the business for 15 years and if somebody had told me then that at 77 I would be back at a thing called Netflix. It’s not even television it’s like you can look at the whole season all at once in 6 hours or something like that. And that I would have my first kiss at 77 since 15 years I would say you’re crazy. But it was fun.

Ellen: Was it fun?

Jane: It was fun it was Craig T. Nelson.

Ellen: Right.

Jane: It was a lot of fun. Do you have a clip?

Ellen: Yes we were just showing it the whole time.

Jane: I didn’t’ see! No tongue

Ellen: No tongue.

Jane: No.

Ellen: No. Did you establish that rule? Because usually before a kiss ya’ll talk about things.

Jane: Yeah not we didn’t we didn’t we wanted to be spontaneous and I waited. But no.

Ellen: No tongue came in.

Jane: But ya know it’s just the lesson for me is that you just never know what’s in store in life. You just never assume I thought I’d never be back with a career in acting and certainly I’d never have an on screen kiss and look what happened.

On Vaginal dryness…

Jane: We deal with issues that are important to older women.

Ellen: Yeah.

Jane: Vaginal dryness.

Ellen: What?

Jane: For example.

Ellen: What happened we were we were it was no.

Jane: No can’t do that? Ok.

Ellen: now you just turned a corner. I don’t know what happened.

Jane: Lilly’s character, I can talk this because a lot of people have already seen the whole season, and love it.

Ellen: Right.

Jane: But Lilly’s character makes lubricants for that part of the body out of yams.

Ellen: Yes

Jane: And she puts it in the refrigerator in a jar and I think it’s jam and I put it on my toast. We’re dealing with the real issues.

Ellen: yeah. Yeah. Now you’ve given that away! Alright.

Jane: No such thing with Netflix.

Ellen: Yeah I know because you can just sit there and binge watch.

On her 60th high school reunion…

Ellen: I want to talk about your 60th high school reunion.

Jane: I just went.

Ellen: I know and how many people showed up?

Jane: Four. And one had an oxygen tank. It’s true but here’s what was so cool about it. I wasn’t sure who was gonna show up I knew there was one person I really wanted to show her name was Pat Johnson. And she was gay at the time, but you never said that, no one ever talked about it and I was like what ever happened to Pat Johnson ? She was the only with the oxygen tank and the minute she took the mask away there she was all feisty and everything with her wife.

Ellen: Aw good for her.

Jane: Isn’t that good.

Ellen: That’s amazing yeah good for Pat. Now was that two of the four or was the plus one her wife.

Jane: Her wife didn’t count. So it was four plus

Ellen: So four plus her wife. So a lot of left over food and balloons?

Jane: I don’t think that everyone else is dead although many are.

Ellen: Well listen. Yes.

Jane: But ya know, I think some people just figured well it’s just too late.

Ellen: Yeah but if they knew you were going?

Jane: We had such a good time!

Ellen: Did you dance?

Jane: No we should have.

Ellen: What kind of good time did you have?

Jane: How can you dance with an oxygen tank?

Ellen: Well you can.

Jane: That would have left three of us and there was another one that wouldn’t’ have been able to dance either. So no we didn’t.

Ellen: But you had a good time.

Jane: Yeah. It was fun.

Ellen: Ok great. Well you have just taken care of yourself most people at 77 do not look like you. You have taken very good care of yourself.

Jane: I have this is true and it’s also attitude. Stay curious. It keeps you young.
