Sleeping couple busted for heroin, with infant in car at Church’s Chicken

RICHMOND, Va. – A man and woman were charged with heroin possession and child endangerment after police found them inside a car with drugs and a six-month-old baby, according to police.

Ryan P. Rich, 25, of the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard and Sarah D. Wheeler, 30, of the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard were found the car at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, outside a Church’s Chicken near the intersection of Hull Street and Jefferson Davis Highway.

The man and woman were found unresponsive, police said. The man had to be treated for a possible heroin overdose. He was taken to VCU Medical Center for more treatment. The woman appeared to be asleep in the car.

The baby was handed over to family members for care, police said.
