RICHMOND, Va. — Police are investigating a GRTC Care van accident in South Richmond.

Just before 4 p.m. Friday, a vehicle was involved in an accident on Belt Boulevard andSouthside Plaza. Another vehicle hit the CARE van, and left the scene, according to Carrie Rose Pace, Public Relations Manager.

The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

Two passengers and one operator were on the CARE Van when it was hit, Pace said. All three were evaluated by EMS on-the-scene, and then transported to a local hospital for assessment. Their conditions are not known at this time.

“As a reminder, all of our buses, including the CARE Vans, are equipped with security cameras that capture both video and audio,” Pace said. “These cameras are often important to police investigations, and we cooperate with authorities to provide access to those cameras to aid their investigation.”

GRTC’s CARE and CARE Plus provide public transportation access to individuals with disabilities, according to the website, who may not be reasonably able to use GRTC fixed route bus service.
