RICHMOND, Va. — Two people crossing the street were struck by a car Thursday afternoon on the VCU Medical Center campus.

VCU Police said officers were dispatched to the intersection of North 12th and East Leigh streets at 2:35 p.m.

Police said that a Toyota Camry traveling west on Leigh Street was attempting to make a left turn onto 12th Street when it was rear-ended by a Ford Crown Victoria.

As a result, the Camry was pushed across Leigh Street into oncoming traffic and onto the sidewalk on 12th Street. Officials said two pedestrians crossing 12th Street were struck by the car.

Both pedestrians and the driver of the Camry were transported to VCU Medical Center with what authorities said were non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said that the driver of the Crown Victoria declined treatment at the scene.

VCU Police are investigating the incident.
