Foul odor causes temporary evacuation at Tuckahoe Elementary

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Tuckahoe Elementary school was evacuated Thursday around 10 a.m., because of a foul odor inside the building. Students were removed from the building and taken to a church across the street. A small number of students said they felt ill, so 15 of them were checked out by paramedics, and all were found to be okay, said Lt. Joe Powers, Henrico Fire Henrico Firefighters did not find anything after an hour on the meter.

The smell went away, and students have since returned to school. Firefighters continue to investigate the cause, but believe it was equipment related, said school spokesperson Andy Jenks.
