RICHMOND, Va - Dr. Jewel E. Hairston, Dean for the College of Agriculture at Virginia State University, visited the studio with some important information about VSU’s study findings regarding food deserts. The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines food deserts as areas with limited access to affordable, nutritious food. VSU’s College of Agriculture has partnered up with Virginia Tech to complete a documentary titled ‘Living in a Food Desert,’ to share their findings. The documentary will premiere on Sunday, March 1st at 5pm at Byrd Theatre, located at 2908 West Cary Street, in conjunction with the Richmond International Film Festival.
