RICHMOND, Va. -- The CBS 6 Storm Team is tracking a developing storm that will bring a wintry mix to parts of the region this afternoon and evening.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from Hanover County north through the Northern Neck and then west to Charlottesville.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the higher elevations of northern and western Virginia. [RELATED: Latest severe weather alerts]

A minor accumulation of snow and ice is possible in the Richmond metro area, with some slick spots possible during the late afternoon.

Farther north and west, our counties in the advisory may pick up an inch or two of snow and sleet.

Most of the precipitation will be light, but a batch of heavy rain is possible overnight.  The reason for rain is that our temperatures will be rising through the 30s into the low 40s by tomorrow morning.
