CHESTERFIELD, Va.– A Waffle House in Chesterfield County was evacuated when a brush fire got too close to the restaurant Sunday afternoon.
Crews responded to the fire, which was near the restaurant in the 7300 block of Hull Street Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found an exposed natural gas meter, so the Waffle House was evacuated as a precaution and the The gas meter was secured.
The brush fire was extinguished, but it did come close to several homes. One neighbor captured video of firefighters dousing the blaze.
Cynthia Barnett Mitchell said the fire did not damage any of her property, but did melt some toys in a neighbor’s back yard.
