HANOVER, Va. – A bedroom fire at the Ashland Town Square apartment complex in Hanover impacted at least six other apartments.

Hanover Fire-EMS crews were dispatched to the 200 block of Secretariat Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke pouring from the second floor of the two story apartment building.

Crews quickly made entry to search for occupants and attack the fire. All occupants got out safely prior to the arrival of Hanover Fire-EMS.

The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes with about 25 firefighters working at the scene.

Residents from six apartments have been displaced due to damage sustained from the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting those impacted by the fire. The Hanover Fire Marshal’s Office is working to determine what caused the fire.

Hanover Fire-EMS reminds all citizens to have a fire escape plan. If a fire occurs in your home, get out and stay out. Call 911 from a safe location and wait outside for the fire department to arrive.
