HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — There were no fire deaths reported for the entire year in Henrico, where county firefighters responded to nearly 42,000 calls in 2014.
“It is very unusual for us to go an entire year with zero structure fire fatalities,” Henrico Fire spokesman Capt. Daniel Rosenbaum said. “This statistic follows with an overall decrease in structure fires and a five percent reduction in building fires for 2014.”
The last time the county went an entire year without a fire death was 2011.
Five people died in Henrico fires in both 2013 and 2010, Rosenbaum said. Two people died in fires in 2012.
Henrico firefighters responded to 41,763 calls last year. That was a 2.6 percent increase from 2013.
