PETERSBURG, Va. -- Petersburg police are investigating three separate shootings that left four people shot and two victims dead between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The most recent shooting happened around noon New Year's Eve when a person was found shot in a car in the Pin Oaks housing community.
The victim was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center. There has been no word yet on their condition.
Additionally, police were called to the 2000 block of Ferndale Avenue in northwestern Petersburg around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday for a call that a vehicle that had been shot several times. The investigation revealed that both the driver and passenger had been shot.
The passenger, 22-year-old Jaymonta Jones of Petersburg, died at VCU Medical Center Wednesday morning. The driver is still being treated at VCU Medical Center and was in stable condition as of noon.
Additionally, police discovered the body of 35-year-old Jabari C. Lee, of Dinwiddie County, in the 50 block of Slagle Avenue in the southeastern part of the city at 11 p.m. Tuesday.
"It appeared that Mr. Lee had been shot to death," officials said in a news release.
Police said their investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
