Suspect behind bars after leading Henrico Police on a chase

HENRICO, Va. — A man that lead officers on a police pursuit is now in the hospital.

Officers responded to the 4400 block of Fox Den Drive for a report of a vandalism around 1:30 am Saturday.

Police spotted a car matching the description involved in the case, when they attempted to pull over the driver the suspect fled, according to Henrico police.

The suspect lead officers on a chase down I-295 near Brook Road.

Police deployed a spike strip and blew out the suspect’s car’s tires.

They lost control and ran into a tree.

Paramedics took the suspect, later identified as Joey Mac Fitzgerald Jr, 43, to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Fitzgerald is facing felony eluding and DUI charges.
