VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- One of former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s sons has been charged with DUI after an early-morning traffic stop in Virginia Beach.

WTKR reports that a Virginia Beach police officer stopped 23-year-old Robert Ryan McDonnell, of the 5900 block of Leabrook Way in Glen Allen, around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police said McDonnell was stopped in the 2500 block of Sandpiper Road in Sandbridge, not far from where the former first family has a vacation home. McDonnell was charged with drunk driving and refusing to submit to a breath test.

This arrest is the latest in a series of legal troubles for the former first family. The former governor and his wife Maureen will be sentenced on their federal corruption convictions Jan. 6 and Feb. 20 respectively.

Robert Ryan McDonnell’s twin brother, Sean, was arrested in Charlottesville last year and charged with public intoxication. He was found guilty in August of 2013.
