RICHMOND (WTVR) – After a seven year run, the Eagle Classic on the Symetra Tour will not be returning to the Richmond Country Club in 2015.
Symetra Tour CBO Mike Nichols said: “Each of our tournaments involves the complex interrelationship of a title sponsor, host venue, secondary sponsors and the underlying business model. Both Eagle Construction and Richmond Country Club have been tremendous partners of the Symetra Tour and our players through the years, but we could not reach an arrangement that worked for all parties.
We are grateful for the support of the community and the volunteers who have made this event possible and are hopeful to be playing in Richmond again in the very near future if there is interest in having us back.”
The Symetra Tour, which is the main developmental tour for the LPGA, is leaving open the possibility of keeping the event in Richmond. However, their 2015 schedule should be announced in the next couple of weeks and all events would need to be finalized by then.
