RICHMOND, Va. -- Rosalyn Powell can't describe the pain she's going through.
"My son was my everything," said Powell.
Her 21-year-old son, Jayquan Powell, was one of two who died in a double shooting early Sunday morning. The other victim was 38-year-old Randy Smith Jr.
The deadly shooting happened on the 3200 block of Decatur St. and officers found two men on the ground when responding to the scene.
Now, family and friends are remembering the good times with Powell and helping Rosalyn get through this difficult time as a mother.
"I'm just torn apart," said Powell.
A vigil was held Saturday night where dozens came to remember the father of four.
"He's a loving father, everyone knows that my son loved his kids," said Powell.
Community leaders were also at the vigil, telling residents that this kind of violence has to end.
"I'm really hurting," said Powell, "My son is gone away from me."
A vigil is planned for the second victim, Randy Smith Jr. for Sunday at 3.p.m. on the 3200 block of Decatur St.
