11 people displaced after Henrico apartment fire ruled arson

HENRICO COUNTY, Va — Fire crews are investigating  an apartment fire arson in Henrico County, Friday evening.

Units responded to the Tree House Apartment complex at the 5900 block of Queens Thorpe Court around 6 pm.

The initial call reported smoke coming from a mailbox in the apartment building lobby, according to Henrico Fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, crews found that flames had spread to the wall behind the mailbox traveling up to the second floor apartments.

Crews quickly  extinguished the fire in  the walls and ceilings. The fire affected 4 apartments and displaced 11 residents for a short period of time.

All occupants were able to make it out of the building unharmed.

There have been several intentionally set fires in the complex over the past year.

Most of those were minimal and did little damage, according to Henrico fire.

The Fire Marshal’s Office urges for anyone with information on this fire and any other fire within the last six months at the Tree House Apartment complex to call (804) 652-3473.
