GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Witnesses said they watched a son stab his father to death in front of the family’s Georgia home, right as a school bus was dropping off students Wednesday afternoon.
Gwinnett County police were called to the scene on Country Wood Drive in Hoschton for a report of an assault. WGCL reportsthat it happened at about 2:30 p.m.
Witnesses told police they saw 19-year-old David Trent Walker standing over his father, David Walker, 46, in front of their home. The elder Walker had been stabbed. The father was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
The stabbing took place right as students were being let out of school.
“They were coming down to get off the bus and everything was going down and all the kids saw what happened that were on the bus,” Tina Lineberry said.
“Once I got down to the street down there, I saw the guy lying in the road and I wasn’t sure who it was,” said Stacia Dorn, who had just dropped off a friend from Millcreek High School.
Dorn said she goes to school with Walker’s younger brother who plays on the football team.
“It is pretty hard to know I had to see him (the father) lying there and that I have to know that my friend is having to go through that,” said Dorn. “I feel really bad for him.”
The younger Walker was still on the scene when officers arrived, police said. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail.
Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said there are no other suspects in the case. Smith said it appears to be a domestic incident. Both father and son lived at the home.
Police are still looking into why the son reportedly attacked his father.
