CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police have released the name of the driver killed in an early morning crash in Chesterfield over the weekend.
Police said the single-vehicle wreck happened just after midnight Saturday in the 3900 block of Kingsland Road.
Police identified the driver as 23-year-old Mathew R. Bergh of the 4700 block of Castlewood Road.
Officials said Bergh was headed east when his pickup drove off the road and struck a pole. The victim was thrown from the truck and died at the scene.
The investigation indicates that Bergh was not wearing a seat belt.
Police are still investigating what caused the crash.
