RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have released the names of the four people found shot to death at a Roanoke Street home Wednesday night in South Richmond.
Police believe the four were shot and killed in a murder-suicide.
“We’re trying to make sense of all this,” “What we’re not doing is looking for anybody else. We believe this is a self-contained scene.”
Officers were called to the home Wednesday just after 8:20 p.m.
When officers arrived, they discovered 19-year-old Adreena D. Gary, of the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike, shot dead outside the home. Inside, police said they discovered 2-year-old Keytrell Kelly and 22-year-old Michelle S. Kelly, both of the 1800 block of Southlawn Avenue. Also, 21-year-old Traymont B. Burton, of the 100 block of East Roanoke Street, was also found shot to death. inside.
All three suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
"Burton and Michelle Kelly were ex-romantic partners and parents of Keytrell. Gray was a friend of Michelle Kelly" Richmond police wrote in a news release.
"Investigators have told me that they are confident that the adult male died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley said.
Neighbors, who were at a meeting with a city council member about five blocks away, were in shock over what happened.
“It puts a sinking feeling in there… It’s bad enough to lose your life because you’re growing older. But as younger persons – and to have someone’s life taken away. Its’ heartbreaking. It’s truly heartbreaking.”
