RICHMOND, Va. — A 12-year-old is recovering after being struck by a stray bullet in Richmond’s Gilpin Court on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 3:59 p.m. in the 1000 block of St. John Street.
Richmond police said it happened when two black males confronted each other they got into an argument.
That’s when one suspect started to fire at the other and a stray bullet hit the 12-year-old in the thigh, according to officers.
The juvenile suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley described the suspect as a black male with dreadlocks who is around five feet five inches tall. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, an olive-green shirt and a blue jean jacket.
