Driver won’t face charges after hitting child crossing street

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond police say no charges will be filed after a child was struck by a vehicle on Fairfield Avenue.
It happened near the Mechanicsville Turnpike around 8 a.m. Thursday.
Officers said a father was with the child walking in a non-crosswalk area when the child was hit.
The child sustained non-life threatening injuries.
