CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police arrested a man after an attempted abduction on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield early Sunday morning.
Javier Henriquez, 24, of Handel Court, was charged with DWI, hit and run – personal injury, attended property, reckless driving, and driving without a license, according to Chesterfield Police.
A woman was walking down the Midlothian Turnpike to a store when a man pulled up and offered her a ride, police said about the 4 a.m. incident. When she got into the car, Henriquez drove past the store, police said. The two got into an argument and the car crashed into a tree.
The man then walked up Jessup Road toward Turner Road, where officers saw him and detained him.
The woman went the other way where she found someone who called police. She suffered a broken arm and was taken to the hospital.
The man said he knew the woman -- that she was the girlfriend of one of his friends, and that everything was voluntary. The woman said she had never met the man.
Police were continuing to investigate.
