SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. - A Glen Allen man was charged following an accident that closed lanes on Interstate 95 south Friday night. The lane closures resulted in a 23-mile traffic backup.

Units responded after a vehicle with a trailer hauling brick cleaner lost control and crashed at about 6 p.m. Friday, according to Virginia State Police.

The trailer spilled acid on the interstate near mile marker 118 in Thornburg.

The fire department had to be called to help clean the acid spill.

The driver, Daniel Alvarez, of Glen Allen Va., was charged with reckless driving and driving without a license, according to Virginia State Police.

The Virginia Department of Transportation indicates no back ups in the area Saturday morning.
