PETERBSURG, Va. -- While most students are still on summer break, some children in Central Virginia headed back to class Monday.
A year-round school program started at Peabody Middle and AP Hill Elementary schools in Petersburg.
The city school district said it hoped year-round school will help improve student test scores. Both schools were denied accreditation for the 2013-2014 school year.
Nearly 2,000 people showed up for the year-round school kick-off rally last Saturday.
