RICHMOND, Va. — Crews responded to two water rescues at the same time on Belle Isle Sunday afternoon.

Fun in the sun quickly turned scary when emergency vehicles swarmed the James River. Crews were on scene for two separate incidents involving two different individuals.

Details were never released about either incident despite having put in a call to Richmond Fire, but one man was taken off of the island on a stretcher after apparently getting stuck on the rocks in the midst of the James’ rapids.

Richmond Fire reportedly handled yet another water rescue. Dispatch got the call for a person lying down, unconscious on the rocks in the western portion of Belle Isle around 9 p.m.

A Richmond Fire official later stated that the situation was under control, and the person was assisted to shore with no injuries.
