HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- State police are searching for the driver believed to have caused a four-vehicle wreck that backed up traffic for miles on I-64 west Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened near mile marker 184, which is just past Broad and Glenside around 5:20 p.m.
The crash closed all three travel lanes for about two hours, traffic was able to pass by on the right shoulder.
Witnesses reported a black or dark blue SUV/Jeep with a partial Virginia tag of VAG struck a Saturn traveling west, which caused that vehicle to hit an Isuzu SUV. That vehicle then spun out and slammed into a Honda.
Witnesses reported the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle appeared to be talking on a cell phone when the crash happened. The driver of the Saturn was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The interstate reopened around 7 p.m.
