COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- A 62-year-old man is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot during a robbery outside his vehicle in the driveway of his Colonial Heights home.

Two suspects, 18-year-old Nicholas Colburne-Garrett and 20-year-old Derek Alphonso Jackson Jr., are behind bars.  They are charged with robbery, conspiracy and use of a firearm during a felony.

Colburne-Garrett has an additional charge of malicious wounding.

Police were called to the victim's home Monday evening after the man's wife dialed 911 to report the shooting.

At the time of the call to 911, a Colonial Heights Police Officer had the suspects car stopped at a near by Rite Aid on Jefferson Davis Highway. The office said the vehicle had sped past him as it exited the Sherwood Hills neighborhood.

Police say they have linked the pair to a robbery in early May, where a 93-year-old woman was followed home from the bank and her purse snatched as she was getting out of her car in her garage.

Colburne-Garrett and Jackson may also be connected to at least one crime in Chesterfield County.
