Richmond homicide victim had long history of arrest for trespassing

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Monday evening, in the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike.

Police said they discovered an adult black male suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He died on the scene.

Neighbors said they heard three or four gunshots around 6:25 p.m. Monday.  Family said the victim was Develle Thomas, age 21.

Court records show Thomas was a frequent unwelcome visitor in Midlothian Village Apartments.  Thomas has multiple charges against him for trespassing at the apartment complex. He also had assault charges, drug-related charges and failure to appear.
