“The Arsenio Hall Show” will not return for a second season this fall after being canceled by CBS Television Distribution.
A representative for the network said late Friday that production had been halted for the syndicated late-night show.
The news comes after Jay Leno made a surprise appearance on Arsenio’s talk show in late February to announce it had been picked up for a second season.
The rebooted version of the once-popular late night talk show, which only averaged about one-million viewers, could not pull the ratings it did when it aired from 1989 to 1994.
Arsenio released a statement saying in part he knew the show would be a challenge – and that he was gratified for the year on air and proud of the show he and his team created.
A brief post on the show’s Facebook page late Friday read, “Love y’all …”
Then on Saturday, Arsenio took to Twitter to add some levity to the situation.
“:-( I lost my job … AND The Clippers, in a 48 hour period! #badweek … Love y’all …,” Hall tweeted.
