PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WTKR) — The Coast Guard medevaced a 27-year-old crew member from a fishing boat about 40 miles east of Chincoteague on over the weekend.
The master of the fishing boat Kirsten Lee contacted Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads watchstanders at 11:15 a.m. Saturday stating a crew member was suffering from chest pain and needed medical attention.
A crew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City launched to assist.
The helicopter crew arrived on the scene at 1:40 p.m., hoisted the man from the boat and transported him to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.
