Genworth Lights up! Youth Open House. The free open house is Saturday, March 22 featuring more than 40 workshops, lecture-demonstrations and performances for children and youth ages 3-18 at Richmond CenterStage, 600 East Grace Street. Resident Companies like Virginia Repertory Theatre, Latin Ballet of Virginia, Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony, The Elegba Folklore Society, Art 180 and SPARC will present music, theater, dance and visual arts workshops throughout the day starting at noon. There will also be live performances. On-line registration through Thursday, March 20th and on site starting at 10:30am. Workshops, lecture-demonstrations and performances are from noon – 5pm. RVA Run For Friends 5K is the first 5K run entirely in Historic Jackson Ward. The 5K Saturday, March 22, will start and end at Abner Clay Park on Leigh Street, registration begins at 8:45am and the race/walk starts at 9:30am rain or shine. Registration fee is $20 and is tax-deductible and comes with a r-shirt, complimentary water & post-race snack. After the race the student government for VCU’s Medical School will host the Strauss Cup Field Day of fun and entertainment, a fun event with dunk tank, powder-puff football, moon bounce, dodge ball games, raffles, food and drinks. The annual Church Hill Irish Festival, Saturday & March 22 & 23, parade kicks off 10am Saturday and 9am Sunday with the Hilltopper 5K; free parking and shuttle buses at 17th & Broad Streets, beneficiaries include St. Patrick’s Church, St. Baldrick’s Society and the Church Hill association among others, for more information visit www.churchhillirishfestival.com.
