PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WTVR) – After his team defeated Colonial Heights High School last week, the Prince George High School boy’s basketball coach was hoping for another win on the court.

Coach Travis Carr got his players and the Prince George students who attended the game to take part in his surprise proposal to Chrissy Landrum, his new fiancé.

It began when some students and other fans, including Landrum, were called down to the court to shoot for a prize after the game.

Landrum, a Henrico teacher, was the only one to make a shot. Her prize? An engagement ring.

“I like to do things big,” Coach Carr said when asked why he decided to pop the question in front of his team, fans and Prince George students.

The couple met a few years ago in Richmond on an adult kickball team. They plan to tie the knot in October 2015.

VCU men’s basketball Coach Shaka Smart gave the couple their first engagement gift — a signed photo.

Congrats to Coach Carr and Chrissy!
