Resident murdered in Richmond apartment complex

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -  Richmond police continue to search for suspects after a fatal shooting at a Southside apartment complex.

Police found a man in his 50s, dead in a breezeway at an apartment complex near 9th and Porter St. just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. The complex sits one block from the Manchester Courthouse, in the 100 block of W. 9th Street.

The victim has been identified as Rodney Ruffin, Sr., 57, of the 100 block of W. 9th St. He lived in the building where he was shot.

Someone in the complex heard gunfire and called 911, investigators said. The officer, who heard the shots, arrived on the scene in moments and found an adult male dead inside an apartment building. He had been shot.

Police have not released details about possible suspects in this shooting. Detectives are canvassing the area, talking to neighbors about what they may have seen or heard. They do not believe this was a random act.
