Man jumps into water to evade Chesterfield Police on domestic call

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR)–Police responded to  a call before Tuesday night, just before 530 p.m., for a domestic related incident near Chippenham Parkway and Jefferson Davis Highway.

When police arrived the suspect fired a gun in the area then fled on foot, Lt. Carpenter told CBS 6. He then jumped into the water to evade police.

State police assisted Chesterfield in apprehending the suspect. Police said that the suspect was sent to the hospital to make sure he didn’t have hyperthermia.

Police said that charges pending after release from hospital, likely reckless handling of a firearm and trespassing.

The name has not been released at this time.
