Downton Abbey season four premiere at Byrd Theatre

Posted

Downton Abbey fans are invited to watch the first hour of Downton Abbey’s season four premiere on the big screen at the Byrd Theatre, for free, thanks to the Community Idea Stations.

There will be two showings on Thursday, January 2, 2014, one at 7 p.m. and another 9:30 p.m. showing.

The Byrd Theatre preview event  last year brought in a full-house, with all 1,300 seats filled with fans of the show, many of them dressed in period attire.

This year, a second showing was added to allow even more viewers to enjoy the fun. Hats, gloves and other fancy duds are once again encouraged.

Doors open at 6:30. Join the Facebook event page.

Last year 24 million viewers tuned into watch season three of the show. The season three finale on Feb. 17 earned an 8.1 rating and an average audience of 12.3 million viewers, beating all broadcast and cable competition in prime time.

Theater event viewers will be able to catch the second-half of the premiere (you only see the first part at the Byrd) starting at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. for second half) on Jan. 5

The show runs eight weeks and will feature the return of Shirley MacLaine and the addition of Paul Giamatti.

This event is a kick-off to the Community Idea Stations’ 50th Anniversary Year. The Community Idea Stations began serving the Richmond community in 1964.
