RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The widow of a Richmond advertising icon received a special message from her husband this week.

A new billboard appeared outside her window Wednesday that reads, "Every day. Laughter. Joy. Love. For the rest of your life. L.M.”

Mike Hughes, the president and creative leader of Richmond's Martin Agency, died from lung cancer Sunday. His death comes after he was given two weeks to live last January.

Hughes not only blogged his ordeal, and wrote his own obituary, but according to the Richmond Times Dispatch, ordered the billboard outside the condo he shared with his wife.

The paper reports that the billboard, which can be seen from the 14th Street bridge toward Manchester, had been in the works for months and that the timing was a coincidence.

Ginny Hughes told the newspaper that her husband is still impacting lives and encouraging people to live their lives to the fullest.
