American University campus lockdown lifted, suspect in custody

9:25 P.M. UPDATE:  ALL CLEAR. Campus is all clear, the lockdown is lifted. Campus may resume normal operations. Suspect in custody.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVR) — American University is on lockdown after areport of a man with a gun on campus.

The university posted about the lockdown and shelter in place shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

American University’s Department of Public Safety said that a citizen reported to campus police that they saw a man with a gun.

American University and D.C. police are investigating. A photo of two people was released, with instructions not to approach them if seen.

AU Public Safety Twitter: “If you see either of these ppl, please DO NOT approach. Call 202-885-3636.”
