PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) -- CBS 6 crews captured video of the demolition of what some called an eyesore for people driving through Petersburg on I-95.
The 41-year-old Holiday Inn Hotel on East Washington Street, which has been vacant for the past eight years, was declared a nuisance by city council over the summer.
Demolition crews spent the past month clearing the building of asbestos and knocked down what was left on Tuesday.
The cost of demolition is estimated to be around $400,000, but the city is hoping to make some of that money back with future development on the site.
