Man arrested for ex-girlfriend’s abduction

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police are charging a man with abduction, strangulation, breaking and entering, in addition to larceny and assault.

Around 9:30 Friday night, 27-year-old Joshua Snider of Lyndhurst confronted his ex-girlfriend when she came home.  According to police, Snider followed his ex-girlfriend into her apartment and held her against her will for 40 minutes.

Police report that there were signs that Snider had already been in her apartment because they found the TV on, his jacket on the couch and duct tape hanging on the way.

photoOfficials told CBS 6 that the woman tried calling for help, but Snider took her phone.  She also pushed him out the door, but he reentered her apartment through the sliding glass door.

He allegedly dragged her toward his pickup truck in the parking lot, but she was able to break free and run for help.  She was taken to a Williamsburg hospital for her injuries.

Snider was eventually arrested.  He was taken into custody and is currently at VCU Medical Center for an self-inflicted stab wound to his abdomen and cuts to his arm.
