Registrar offices open Saturdays for absentee voting

From a news release from the Virginia State Board of Elections: 

RICHMOND. Va. – Virginia voters eligible to vote absentee for the upcoming election will have an increased opportunity to cast an absentee ballot in-person.

Offices of the general registrars will all be open for eight hours on each of the two Saturdays immediately before election day which will be October 26, 2013 and November 2, 2013.

Voters must meet one of the numerous eligibility requirements to vote absentee. Applications are available online at http://www.sbe.virginia.gov or at local voter registration offices.

To vote by mail, the application must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. The last day to vote absentee in-person at the local registrar’s office is Saturday, November 2, 2013.

Acceptable identification will be required for in-person absentee voting. For a full list of acceptable forms of identification visit http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/VotinginPerson.html or contact the State Board of Elections at 800-552-9745.

Voters should contact their local registrar’s office to confirm business hours for Saturday, October 26th and Saturday, November 2nd.

It is important to note that all absentee ballots cast will be counted in a timely fashion.
