UPDATE: All lanes have reopened.
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A hazardous materials incident has closed Route 460 in both directions near I-295 in Prince George County.
Route 460 is closed from “the area of Hillside Trailer Park and the Trailer Outlet,” the county tweeted.
Fire investigators are examining a chemical that may have spilled onto the road, Prince George Police Lt. Burroughs said. Investigators are not sure what the chemical is nor when it first appeared on the highway.
“VDOT is setting up a detour (will provide once available). Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes to bypass the incident. Expect major traffic delays,” Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Dawn Eischen said via emailed.
