HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Police have released the name of a 62-year-old man killed in a wreck that closed the I-295 south ramp to Airport Drive for several hours Friday evening.
Henrico police were called to a two-vehicle crash on N. Airport Drive at I-295 just before 4:30 p.m.
Officials said an SUV hauling a utility trailer was hit by another vehicle in what appears to be a rear-end collision.
The victim, Thomas A. Jones, of Highland Springs, was outside his vehicle when he sustained injuries from the crash.
Authorities said no charged have been filed.
The Henrico Police Crash Team was on the scene conducting an investigation into the crash.
Traffic was rerouted to I-295 south, or south on Airport Drive at Hanover Road because of the road closure of northbound N. Airport Drive at Hanover Road, which is just south of I-295.
The ramp reopened around 7:30 p.m.
