RICHMOND, VA. (WTVR): Virginia Commonwealth University is going beyond academics this weekend with "Women, War & Peace" a two-day conference highlighting women's roles in war and peace in West and North Africa through documentaries, presentations, workshops, seminars and music and food.
The conference is at the VCU Student Commons, 907 West Main Street, Friday September 20 & Saturday September 21, with workshops throughout the day, starting at 6pm Friday, a Cultural Reception followed by A Special Liberian Evening with the screening of "Pray The Devil Back To Hell" a documentary by Abigail Disney at 7pm, CBS 6's and a Native Liberian, Antoinette Essa is the host. A brief following question and answer period and live music Malian music and dance, registration is suggested for these events.
Women, War & Peace continues Saturday morning with the focus on Mali, workshops, seminars, screenings and an extended panel discussion of Liberians and their journey from the war to present day.
