Officers said 28-year-old Marcellous Land died after he was shot while driving on Washington Street and his pickup truck slammed into the Broadway Inn Monday afternoon.

Marvin Massenburg Jr., 27, was arrested in Chesterfield County Tuesday morning by US Marshals for the shooting that led to Land's death.

The arrest came after police received tips from the community and found the suspect's car, which was seen in surveillance video obtained by CBS 6.

The video showed, from two angles, the white pickup truck driven by Land, just seconds before he crashed into the motel.

Behind that truck, the video shows a silver-colored vehicle with large rims tailing Land’s truck. Police said they found that car late last week.

Officials, who said their investigation is ongoing, have not yet determined a motive or the relationship between the victim and suspect.

Massenburg, who is facing murder and firearms charges, is being held without bond at Petersburg Jail.
