MARS, Pa. — A Pennsylvania couple got a bit of a surprise on their big day when one of the stars of A&E’s Duck Dynasty dropped in to say congratulations after they exchanged vows.
Mehgan Cook, 26, and her husband Charlie Miller wanted an outdoor-themed wedding from the beginning, so Mehgan’s mother came up with the idea to have the ceremony during the grand opening of a new Field and Stream store near Pittsburgh.
Surrounded by friends, family and a couple hundred strangers, Mehgan walked down the aisle to the sound of duck calls and met her groom under an arbor of wild animals.
“Ever since I was a little kid, that’s all we did was hunt and fish,” Charlie said. “I didn’t want to be in no church in a tuxedo. I wanted to feel comfortable and just have fun,” Charlie said.
After the “I do’s,” Willie Robertson surprised his fans and received a warm welcome.
“It was like Christmas morning when you were a little kid,” Charlie recalled.
Store representatives helped organize the surprise, and Willie also stuck around to greet other fans and sign autographs.
“That’s a first for me and it’s good to be a part of that,” Willie said. “They look like my kind of folks."
Willie’s advice for the newlyweds? “Just love each other and forgive each other.”
